shim tool on EBAY

Post by randys79 »

I just ran across this on EBAY and it seems as though someone is always looking for one. (valve tool)
It has a reserve so who knows how much they want for it and shipping is pretty high, at least it seems to me. I guess it just depends on how bad you want it. Only four hours left!

Interesting that you comment about the shipping charge !

I have a few interests and (spend too much) have found a few otherwise unobtainable items on ebay. Every now & then, you wonfer if inflated shipping / postage charges are used to offset a dissapointing ( for seller) sale price ?

I'm currently arguing with a seller, quoted & charged me $88.00 postage but item arrived with only $56.00 stamps on the box, now refuses to refund difference !

Anyone else been stung in a similar manner ?

some shippers charge extra for the container and packing material as well as their time. I know from experience it can be time consuming to package some items. But $30 does seem a tad high

Ebay charges are based on listing price and final auction total. Many sellers offer items such as an ipod for $5, but the shipping cost is listed as $300. You're paying for the item in shipping charges. Then the seller only has to pay auction fees on $5 instead of $305. In reality, item only costs $10 to ship, even in a really nice box.

In addition, some sellers will charge a "pick-up fee" if you're picking up the item in person. That's a way for them to recoup some of the extra money they would have padded into the shipping cost if it had been shipped.

I can tell you that when I pack an exhaust system to ship, it takes at least an hour to get it boxed up.
