if not for that cowl and the huge tires and height, then i like it. if they could make it lower then i'd drive around with no hood before i was seen with that gawd awful cowl.
Re: FIAT or Chevy?
You've gotta appreciate the work thats been put into it. I wouldn't buy it but I'd sure as hell drive it!

should have (4)40 idf's sticking out of the hood!, scrap the cowl induction thing, lower it and look out! agreed id drive it, might build something like what i discribed if i was wanting a chevy powerplant. but ! ! ! if i had to have a v8 in a 124 spider , there would be a ferrari 308/328 owner looking for thiers

I agree that the cowl is awefull. Should have left a circle in the hood and the air cleaner exposed. Yet, I like it. I can see how the guy went with the cowl as it prolly was not his first drag racer. Some of the guys down here in Houston have kicked arround a similar idea to enter in the lemons race.

Re: FIAT or Chevy?
agreed hat the huge cowl. I wonder how much they have re-enforced the crossmember? I am thinking if not that it wouldn't last long!
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!
Re: FIAT or Chevy?
Not bad at all. Like others the cowl was a waste of time and money . By the looks of the pictures he could have gotten by with a cowl induction hood. The only other thing would have been to tub the rear and shorten the rear end. Just enough for the tires to be under the body.
I'm guessing that it sits that high because of the oil pan and headers being in the way of lowering it to a decent ride height.

Re: FIAT or Chevy?
I wish my spider could do the 1/4 mile in ten. If I ever finish the x it should.

I personally think this car is bitchin. Yeah, the cowl is a bit much, but that thing is just bad to the bone. I've dreamed of doing something like this for over 25 years.
I do think halg has a nicer car, though... His has got to be the finest modified 124 Spider ever.

It also looks like the radiator might be a reason for the big cowl as well. I wouldn't mind having two Fiats, one a monster like this one for the track and my actual driver. They should both be painted the same and identical in every way possible just to screw with people when they see you in it.
Re: FIAT or Chevy?
I'd run it without a hood and tone down the heavy-duty grippage to something a little more subdued. It looks like a wheelie-mobile without the bars. I'd put decent grabbers and wheels and just cruise it slowly up and down the boulevard all day and all night.
