Is anyone interested in a Dyno Saturday in So Cal? I've got a deal set up with a company in Upland that will work a group day for us. Minimum of 10 cars, $50 each for 3 pulls which is about a half hour with setup. You'll get a graph showing hp, torque and a/f ratio. They will also offer a discount on any tuning services for those that want to stay and work out issues with their car. Payment of the $50 would be due in advance to reserve a spot of course since we have to guarantee 10 cars.
We can bbq there and make a day of it. Side bets will be up to the individuals :mrgreen:

Thanks for the opportunity, Mark, but not this week for me. I would be for picking a date about 3-4 weeks away, when I finally get my car back together and a few hundred miles put on the new build. I hope to have it finished by this weekend or the next.

not this Saturday, a date to be determined once we get 10 people interested. I wouldn't dream of setting this up with ONE days' notice :roll:

Mark, I am definitely IN on this one. I really want to know what my engine will do with your cams and rebuild!

I want to go but I already know my engine is tired and weak so I just want to watch and...... see first hand how much poop Alvon's car has.

this is really alot more than just seeing how much hp your car has. It's a great tuning tool to see if your fuel mixture and settings are optimum throughout the rpm range

Very good point Mark, and that is the main reason that I am interested to get some dyno time. I don't really care so much that I have 100 HP, or 110 HP, or whatever. I'm sure that there are bragging rights to have the flattest torque curve and highest power range, but I'm more interested with getting the best tune and smoothest running with what I have. Our stock engines have adequate power for about any driving I do (and if you ask my white-knuckled wife -- it has way more power than she'd like to see!!).

I'm looking forward to testing out a few jet combinations for the 40 IDF's, some different distributor advance spring options, and maybe a tweek or 2 with the adjustable cam pulleys, and maybe a test or 2 with different air filter considerations. Mark, it looks like I many need to buy more than 1 time slot!

I really hope to get my Coupe ready for whenever this happens. I would hate to be one of the 10 and not get it ready, maybe I should bring my Silver car if the coupe isn't ready? How much notice will there be after you have 10? Can more than 10 be accomidated?

Do the pulls have to be consecutive? I don't know how much hookup time is involved with each car. If ACE is going to want to do cam timing changes how much time will be allowed?

they usually allow 1/2 hr for each car, and it only takes a few minutes to set up each car. Depending on how many cars we schedule, I'd say minor changes could be done with the car on the dyno. Longer changes would require the car to be moved off the dyno then retested later.
It's wise if you plan on experimenting to be really prepared. Optional jet sizes thought out, cam wheels degreed for easy adjustment, proper tools ready to go.
