Wheel Adapters Info Needed
Re: Wheel Adapters Info Needed
I like the ones from eBay. They are half the price than the ones I got from Adap-it and already tapered holes. For $99, I would give them a try.
Re: Wheel Adapters Info Needed
I'm running adapters on my spider. I had them made at $50 apiece from a local machine shop. They are hub centric for vw rims and bolt centric for the hubs. The fronts are actually hub centric due to the hub for the bearings the rears are not. Unless you have metal inserts only get them with studs as aluminum's not a very good base for wheel bolts. Sorry but being wheels are a pretty major part I wouldn't go with the cheap ones get the best you can afford and then some. H/R make some of the best adapters out there .

I put nice jetta 5 spoke wheels on mine they look great. I didn't think .02mm was that big of a difference. I just swapped them out with the same bolts and they have been running fine. No wheel adapters...... I recently bought the wobble bolts and installed them. My wheels feel the same.... Don't waste your money. .02 of a mm divided by two is .01 difference on each side. The bolts go right in and center.

100mm - 98mm = 2mm, not 0.02mmRoadRacer wrote:I put nice jetta 5 spoke wheels on mine they look great. I didn't think .02mm was that big of a difference. I'm bad at math but the wheels with original bolts work fine no vibrations at 100 mph I have had them on for the last six months... Again, save your money.
If you need to spend money these are wobble bolts they center 2mm off easily..... http://www.20squared.com/product_p/1.1.206.htm

Has anybody else taken these kinds of measurements? Near as I can measure, my hub is 58.5mm (57.6mm on the front taper). I'm getting ready to order some custom spacers, and I'd like to make sure that my wheel / hub centric msrmts are correct. how much should i allow for the fit? for instance; my wheel center-bore measures at 73.13mm, but it looks like 73mm is pretty common.fiatfreak wrote:I had adapter/spacers custom made because I wanted them to be both hub centric and wheel centric. This way everything is centered on the hub. This is really critical to avoid vibration:
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
Re: Wheel Adapters Info Needed
Tomorrow I'll make a drawing of the hub to publish the dimensions I use. 85.5mm ~2.300" is more correct.
Re: Wheel Adapters Info Needed
Maytag, thanks for the front and back messurements on the hub. Can you also give me the distance of the hub? I mean the lenght of the hub shaft from the back part that is 58.5mm to the outside edge that is 57.6mm.
I have a new set of wheels that are 73mm in the back but then it has a front lip with a diameter of 56mm that is a distance of 50mm. My car is at the shop and I can not messure the thing until next week.
Thanks.
