Ideas needed for aftermarket tube bumpers...

Like many others I have taken the old tube bumpers off my '79, my father thinks we should use some type of Jeep style bumpers I've seen one spider on ebay awhile ago with that style and it looked cool with some fog lights hooked up but not sure what he/she used.

I'm referring to something like this but not exactly. Anyone have any ideas on what kind of aftermarket tube bumpers may fit or come close to fitting with a little modification for the front and back. Thanks.

umm, I don't think those Jeep type bumpers will look very good on a Spider unless you're planning on running the Baja 500

Nothing will fit without considerable modification. One idea of something to have made, would be to have a tube the size of the bumper shocks bent into a U shape. Plug the ends into the original mounting brackets and drill the 14m hole through it for the locating points. Once it's fitted, you could paint it black or body color, or even have it nickle plated to look like chrome. A roll cage fabricator could probably make them for you in a couple hours or less if you took the car to them.

I'd like to see a light weight aluminum version of the tube bumpers. I've gotten used to their look, but they are so darn heavy! Are you listening, Brady?
