RESTART LUBE

Post by james124 »

I'm taking my 74 Spider out of 6 months of winter storage. I think I should lube the top of the pistons and cylinders before turning over the engine several times. I need some input on the best lubes to use for this purpose. Thanks for sharing the info. James

you should get in the habit of fogging the engine when you store it. But since that wasn't done, you want to use a lubricant that will burn in the cylinder and not foul the spark plugs. Marvel Mystery oil is one, but I generally use auto trans fluid. Just a small amount in each cylinder is all you need. I'd put it in a day before you intend to start. Be prepared for white smoke from the tailpipe as the engine warms up
