82 Turbo on Mecum auction
82 Turbo on Mecum auction
There is an 82 Spider Turbo scheduled to be auctioned at the Indianapolis Mecum Auction this Sunday. I don't know if it will be televised or not but it is lot# U17 with No Reserve. I may be there in person.

That's not good news. That looks like a pretty nice car and a Turbo to boot so I guess values aren't headed anywhere fast. 7k is okay, but hardly anything we should cheer if that nice a car can only pull 7k.

3-5 years ago I'd have expected 12K plus for that car.....not surprised about that $7K price in today's economy, though.
Re: 82 Turbo on Mecum auction
A few other factors that may have affected the final sale price. The bidding occured on the last day of the auction here in Indy and it was not televised. This was primarily a muscle car auction and there was only one other Fiat in the 4 day event. A 1965 600D that went for $14,500. There was also a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTB that sold for only $12,750. I wish I was there for that one.
Re: 82 Turbo on Mecum auction
what shape was the 308 in? That's definitely low balling. Your average 308GTB can ask for twice that much. Heck I saw a 308 that had of all things a fiero engine in it for 10k. I'd love to own one, beautiful car.
As for the spider, I'm not surprised, even the rare turbo engines don't sell for much pulled, and Fiat wasn't exactly a high end branding, and most of those muscle car guys probably hate Italian cars. It may be wishful thinking, but when they start selling fiats again in the states I think the price may go up. Personally I like it low, it allows average Joe's like us to own such a great car.

A 308 GTB for 12k?! That's pure insanity. I'd take one for that price in a heartbeat!eddy314 wrote:A few other factors that may have affected the final sale price.
