See the pic above . It's sort of the base of the bracket the eye of the shock fits in . The bolt in the pic is from Denice's car and is correct. My bracket has dropped so that the bolt in the pic has dropped as well so a socket won't fit on it. I hope I can get it back into place and reinforce the area so it doesn't happen again. If it's too far gone it will have to be replaced .

So, the area where your bolt goes through the ears to mount the shock is cracked?

Yes , In the picture you posted the crack in my lower shock mount is in the center just below the two ears the bolt goes through and has allowed the ears/bolt to drop too low to get a socket on the bolt.

I've got an old axle lying around I'll look at. Since it's not under a car it might be easier to see what a good solution would be.
