Just put my spider on that new carb diet.
Just kidding, someone got wind that I was thinking about swapping it out and bought it. Now I need to get on the ball and figure out the replacement.

I dont know what happened to that first pic. Car fell off carb diet though. just got these 2 days ago.
My custom hood wont fit anymore, guess I have to go from a d cup to an f. I need to mod the green hood now.

Re: Just put my spider on that new carb diet.
is that a periscope in the pic from the left front? or a sprinkler head as part of a fire system?

Any close up pictures of your cable throttle hookup? I'm using the bell crank but would like to switch to something a little cleaner.
Thanks,

Rey,
If you'd like to borrow my domed foam filters for a week or so, let me know. They fit well under the flat hood for a 1.8L, but don't know if that would be true for a 2L engine. You'd need to remove the horns for the domed foam filters. I found no difference in perfomance between the following, based on seat-of-pants feel, and some timed acceleration runs under load, though I imagine that dyno data may show some subtle difference in performance:
1) No filters, standard horns, no hood or with flat hood in place
2) No filters, no horns, no hood or with flat hood in place
3) Turtle back filter, standard horns or shortened horns, no hood (the T-Back won't fit under my flat hood)
4) Domed foam filters with no horn, flat hood in place
5) Domed Foam fiters with shortened horns, flat hood in place
I run with the #5 option above. See Pics:
Not much room under the hood, with standard horns in place (old 40 IDF, 13/15's, with std waffle manifold):
Enough room for domed filters if the horns are cut down:

Very smart fan modification, best one seen yet. Show us your trigger wheel. What about that DCOE manifold, seems your spider is falling off its diet pretty hard?

Alvon, how the hell did you get that very nice under hood pic. You must really have some small friends. Thanx for the offer on the filters, but I think ill just go hoodless till I figure a design for the new hood.
Matt thank for the compliments on the fan mod. Its not complete yet. Still needs some trimming then a good blast and paint. Its functional and working for now though. Trigger wheel, need to see if i can dig up some pics from before it was installed. Its just a modified stock pully, machined to accept trigger wheel. Needs some plating or something cause it s ugly right now.
The dcoe manifold is just something I had sitting on my shelf for a long time. I only posted because someone showed intrest in it.

Easy -- radiator was not yet installed, so just took the front grill mesh out to make some clearance measurements and take the pics.spiderrey wrote:Alvon, how the hell did you get that very nice under hood pic. You must really have some small friends.

I thought maybe you took that pic when you were under the car with Denise checking out those bouncy things. Thanx again for the offer. People like you make this site great.

Really nice work,Rey! That engine compartment is really well though out and clean looking.I bet it runs every bit as good as it looks.

You know Craig, it used to look nice. Now its just dirty, needs a good cleaning and some fresh paint. Thankx for the complinents, i really appreciate them. I will be reworking things as I do this install.
If you really want to see a pristine engine bay, you would have to look at Alvons. Mine just has more bling to cover up its faults.
