I checked out your Electromotive system. It uses a crank trigger, so you have to fabricate a wheel setup with mount for the Fiat. Our system has similar performance with very simple installation. Our system is also over $100 cheaper than the Electromotive setup.

We installed a unit on an X today, here's a link to a short video of the installation. The first run of Spider units is sold out. If you're considering one, please let me know so we can add it to the next production run.

Also on the list of mods... this further helps to clean up the engine bay.

Too bad they did not do it so that it would fit the stock distributor location. that would have saved it from additional wiring routed on top of the head. Pretty cool nonetheless.

as for stock location, are you mentioning the Spider system? If so, it was moved to the block location for a reason and that was for hood clearance when swapping engines. The production versions use a harness that goes under the intake and around the back of the block so it's not visible at all.

Will this work on my 1600? I was thinking about getting one right away for the 1600 and switch it over to warmed-over 2L after it is built. I will need the hood clearance, I have no bumps

Why not mount that coil pack on the distributor plug like Jason Miller does with EDIS setups: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigtimes_fiat/4576304478/

It would eliminate those long runs of sparkplug wires and clean up the look of the engine bay. Depending on the wire core construction, you might be able to use your exisitng plug wires.

I disagree, that thing looks hideous on top of the cam cover. If it were my car, i would change the cam housing and use one from a 1438. With the coil pack on top of the cam cover like that you might still have hood clearance problems on early cars, plus the wires would be pretty close to the metal hood and could possibly arc.

we decided against mounting the coil pack on the engine; there just wasn't a logical, attractive spot to put it. The plug wires on most cars wouldn't be good enough quality for this system. Most people we talked with during development expressed a desire to clean up the top of the motor. But as usual, we can't please everyone
