The Spider is finished!!
The Spider is finished!!
After 5 months of hard work, the Spider is, at the end, finished.
New paint from bare metal, new brakes, new ulphostery and all the bumpers off!
We welded metal plates to cover all the bumper holes but I have a complete european plating. With or without bumpers? that´s the question...
Hope you´ll like it!!

Wow, great job! Is the lower grille still open or did you close that up? I kinda like it without bumpers.

It looks like you copper-plated the bumpers! Is the front valance area been cut out? I like the bumper-less version also, like Denise, but would like to see a pic of the front end in the sun so I can see what is going on there.

Bumperless looks great. You need to get another Spider to mount the early Spider bumper to. Can you tell me the info an the driving lights and how you mounted the license plate? Thanks, George

Looks great. Better go bumper-less so you dont have to drill any holes in that new paint and sell me those bumpers!

Great job Corujoxx! That is one sweet ride. Give us some pic's of the interior. Thx
I would like to know if the color you used is a true black? What brand was it? Did you paint it and was it easy to work with?

I think you should abandon the whole project at this point and send that basket case to me. I will be sure to make that whole bumper decision for you.
Great job man!!

Wow. What a beautiful car. Although I am a fan of chrome, bumpers off looks great. When you get tired of it looking so good you can add them back.

Re: The Spider is finished!!
Car came out beautiful. And the car looks great with or without the bumpers... but you asked... after using it without bumpers for awhile just to enjoy it like that, I would install the bumpers, it just completes the rest of the work done on it...corujoxx wrote: With or without bumpers? that´s the question...
Congratulations! I hope you can enjoy it for many, many miles!

Re: The Spider is finished!!
Bumpers are only brass plated (by the moment) because is much more easy weld before the chrome plating. The low grill is still open, and the plate is fitted with two screws.
Before paint them, we weld metal plates in all holes. One layer of Evercoat putti, and perfect...If finaly I install the european ones, I will use new brackets, muc lighters than the originals.
Compared with the USA bumpers, the style is much different, and more than 50 Kg. off!!
The spot lights came from a New Mini, of course reproductions, not originals. Less than 60$ from E-bay-Uk.
They have the exact size to fit into the front gril, and are stainless steel, not chromed. Much better!
I painted it myself, using 2K paint but aplying two layers of ceramic coat over the paint. Shine, and hard, VERY HARD!!
I will add some more pics soon. I have all the proocess documented in my website, but only in spanish. Using the google translator you can read it.
