Re: More good wood
The top one is mine and not on ebay. It wont have a normal g box. I might rig something up like on the early x where the glove box drops down, dont see it till u need it. The finish on the normal set up came out nicer then mine, so im gonna have my partner rework mine before i install it. I did not make these. I work with a guy that can do great things with wood, tree wood. Ive been trying to get him to do this stuff for years, he is some what retired now and has the time. He is in the process of trying out a few different things for me right now. thanx for the compliments guys.

Hi Rey.
What are you using to cut the circles? I thought you were doing the one piece. I like the way it looks. Is it cherry also?

Re: More good wood
The one piece is solid teak. It is going in my car . This one is solid cherry, it will be put up on evilbay once its completed. I will eventually have several sets available for sale out of different woods and for different years. Im not sure what my partner used to cut the holes with. He fabs these in his barn and has all the tools necessary. He builds some pretty amazing custom furniture.

Re: More good wood
The small instrument holes are cut with a 2" hole saw; speedo and tach with a 4" one. Shifter hole can be done freehand, as the boot ring covers any imperfections. The real trick, as Denise will tell you, is a dust-free finish, which does require some specialized equipment.
Here's my project, mahogany, to match the steering wheel:
As you can see, it's gonna be a rush to get everything finished for Saturday's club drive!

Re: More good wood
Those are looking good Rey. I like how the pad is pemanent on the cup holder/arm rest. It looks like it lifts to have a storage compartment under it.? Mine has a pad, but it is removeable if I have a passenger who needs a cup holder.
