whats the point of this debate. Danno everyone cant be right all the time. My point was simple, the factorys not gonna mix engine pieces like you suggested. It just dosent make sense. Show some proof of what your suggesting or just let this silly debate die. happy holidays to All

What I meant was unless Daniel was the original owner maybe the PO put a 1592 head on a 1800 Block. If Daniel was the original owner since new, then never mind.

Hey Lanciahf

I haven't owned a new Fiat but many used Spiders, 131s and
Lancia's i've herd about all of the Heads working with the right
mods done to them but never try'd it myself .
About the increase in CR on the 1592 head i think it has a smaller
combustion chamber and ill see if i can take some photos of a head
and post .

BTW i'm not in a debate and not always right, just human

with all of the possible mixes and matches between these engines, you never know what you've got unless you're the original owner

Head Identification

Post by manoa matt »

Alright guys, here is the pictures I said I'd post. Better late than never. Let the argument continue. Is it a: 79 carb, 79 FI, or 2000 FI Could it be a earlier head possibly pre emissions?

thanks

Matt

Thanks for the pics, Matt, and for the clickable links, Dan. The head casting number 4238527 is listed as a 1592 cylinder head, per the following listing put together by Pete Angel and others:
http://mirafiori.com/~pete/head/ID.html

It would be interesting to know the chamber volumes. Do you have a way to measure? Reading thru the Mirafiori archives, I found it stated in several places that the chamber volumes were exactly the same on the 1592 and the 1.8L heads.
