Clutch Problems :( HELP !!

Idk what's wrong with my 78 spider. She grinds into 2nd gear and pops out of 3rd. What could be the issue ? She also idles pretty weird. Like it stalled in my drive way with out even moving. Help me please

IMHO it sounds more like transmission problems rather than clutch problems. Did all of this happen all of a sudden?

Well she's been grinding into 2nd for about 4 days now. It popped out of 3rd for the 1st time yesturday. I asked a dew people and a few of them said it could be the synce hose or sutiin like that ?

unfortunatly sounds like the transmission will need to be overhauled. syncro's, shift sleeves, and shift forks, is what you should replace. the engagement surfaces on the gears should be ok, if you dont keep grinding the gears. after you rebuild your transmission, dont drive down the road while resting your hand on the shifter.

Yup....I got a little grind in 2nd too....sounds like the syncro is shot!

If one is going, they all have to be replaced, unless you like taking a trans out every few months. That is a major job.

Damn. Sounds like a project. Tranny, syncros, shift sleeves & shift gears ? Looks like I have a long weekend ahead of me.

Don't forget to replace the clutch while the tranny is out.

Heres something that might work, when in between shifting threw the gears, paws in neutral and let the RPMS go back down. Thats how people drove the cars in the 1910's and 1920's, because they didnt know what syncromes was. And also thats how i drive my Geo Metro becuase the syncromes is gone in that.
