I'd like to put an oil pressure gauge in, instead. See lots on eBay, don't know if the "oil pressure sending unit" from an older model will work with my '80...
Mark, or anyone sell a "simple kit" for us simple folks that don't like their faded clock??

It's not too difficult, I wouldn't think, but the oil gauge is about as accurate as the clock.
I'm not sure if the later model cars had a place for the sender on the oil filter housing. If not, you'll have to change that. Then wiring it is quite simple once you get to that point. Several of us probably have oil pressure gauges from cars we've parted out.

I bought a oil pressure guage from Lordco,think it was under $30. It connected to the side of the oil filter housing.(80 fi) It came with all the proper fittings and took about 45 minutes to install. This one mounted below the dash, but I believe they would have some that might fit in the dash.

You need an oil pressure sending unit. This unit plugs into the side, where the oil filter goes on any Spider with a 1.8 or 2 Liter motor. You will run one wire to the gauge, and tie the gauge into one of the ignition wires. You will also tie the ground into another ground wire.Kingme2 wrote:awesome, thx!

If the only problem with the clock is the fogged lens, you can remove the bezel carefully and replace it with one cut out of CD case. I did mine about 7-8 years ago and it still looks and works great. Sure, an oil pressure gauge is more handy...but the cheapest fix would be a new plastic face.

I did exactly this on Saturday :-)
With all of the right connectors, wire and tools ready etc. it took no longer than an hour.
Followed the directions from here - http://flumichigan.italiancarclub.com/T ... egauge.pdf
I picked up an original gauge off ebay and the instructions were all pretty accurate apart from one wire I had was grey and not grey/yellow.
From other posts I was reassured to see that the originals are not the most accurate and are more of a trend monitor and get to know where the needle usually sits rather than what the figure is.
Much nicer than the cloudy clock
