So my helper help me into some extra work for the head. (will have to take it to Mark) I guess now is a good time to get to work on some of the other stuff that needs done (everything!) but I can't seem to find the motivation for the other stuff.
Help!
Tersta
When I say everything I mean everything. Have you see the pictures of the interior?
Need motivation!
Re: Need motivation!
take on a small task that you can complete, then another. Looking at the scope of an entire restoration is pretty intimidating

Hey, I've seen the picture of you cleaning parts with a dremel! That attention to detail tells me you will be able to do the job, no problem. Just keep the picture in your mind of the wind blowing in your hair on the drive when it's on the road.

Here's another suggestion.
Make some lists.
They help you focus on what needs to get done and in about what order.
Big tasks, little tasks, priorities.
Things you can do in a half hour. Things that will take all weekend.
Start with the big things - INTERIOR
Break it down to sub groups - Seats
and so forth.
And when you don't feel like working on the car, or getting dirty, have a list of the things to research on the internet. Parts, tools, tips.
It is always fun to cross off something on a list.
You'll get there.

Re: Need motivation!
Yeah, this I have to admit was my fault.
I was griping about the intake valves being delicate, but after thinking about what I did it appears I bottomed out the valve springs and twisted the heads of the intake valves.
I talked to Mark yesterday about the costs on repairing the head (thanks for taking the time Mark as soon as there is something in the coffers we will be bringing that over). Tersta has already started her new to-do list, so she will be getting back in the swing of things, I have no doubt. It just sucks when a plan gets derailed by something(me!).

I love the red and black combo! I thought about doing that with my engine but chickened out because I wasn't sure how it would look in the end.SLOSpider wrote:I find once I get started I cant stop....

Re: Need motivation!
TIME!!! take it. There was no way I could have done this 20-30 years ago as I wanted it done yesterday and the result would have shown the impatience. Some are born with it and will do a spot on job from the get go. Putting my car together, I was fortunate to have a retired eye surgeon(from Dallas) help me with some of the lifting/extra hands ect. He told me to take a breath and its all about the ride. I never looked at it as a chore but now it's a learning experience and kind of therapy. The car is more or less sorted so I've taken on another save/project and have another after that. I love this hobby as I see it as having something really tangable and driveable when done.
this was the before pic
and the after
There are many stages inbetween but start say the seats and if waiting for parts move onto something that might be completed while waiting.
It does happen and gives you a smile when cruising top down along a winding road.
Have fun and work safe
