my poor spider

Post by dinosabella »

Ok, so for a few years now, (mostly due to finances) I have been rough with my spider and I haven't given her the attention she deserves

Here are the problems.

A few years back (3 I beleive) I purchased a bigger webber from pearson manifolds. It was really easy to install but it runs really rich. I spoke to a guy who specializes in British cars and he told me I cant adjust the mixture and that my jetting must be all wrong for my engine.

The exhaust is shot and is really loud and will have to be replaced.

One of the front bearings needs to be replaced but I might as well replace both at the same time as well as doing the front breaks for safety reasons.

Also, when I start it up at burns blue smoke for a few minutes.

Basically after a drive in my Fiat you leave stinking of petroleum products and stoned off of the fumes.

So my question is, what may be causing me to burn oil on start up and it it try that my jetting might be all wrong for my car. I really hate choking on the fumes. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

oil burn on start up, usually is bad valve guide seals. the smells you refer to. make sure the breather hose has been attached to the air cleaner, so the engine is breathing those wonderful fumes. jetting in a stock off the shelf aftermarket carburator, will not be correct for your motor. im sure people here on the board will have good suggestions for where to start with the jetting. most of my experiance is with race motors and fuel demands are way different.

Just go ahead and put in the Lancia Intergralli cams. That way, you won't have to F with the jetting issue.
