Thanks for the pic Ron. I was trying to remember who had posted that in the past..
I'll look around the shop and see what wood I have laying about. I had some yellow cedar burl I had cut out for dash and consol replacement and hope to have a chunk left for a cup holder similar to yours. Hot Tim Hortons in the lap does not feel good. I'll start today

That looks great, Ron. Do you have any pics of the entire unit? How is it attached?

Courtenay, Here's a picture of mine and an ebony stained one I made for Mike Bouse, who gave it to his wife to go in a car with black interior. This is a rear view:
Image
It doesn't attach. I made it so it is a snug fit between the seats. The curved leg matches the tranny tunnel and keeps it level and stable. It isn't a solid mount, but it could be if I wanted to. I wanted to be able to easily take it in or out. My car has the factory leather padded console and doesn't have the bulge at the rear of the e-brake handle. To use my pattern on a standard console a couple of foam rubber pads would be put on the front, so that the bottom of the cupholder/armrest is not rocking on the bulge.

Follow this thread to see the Luxmore armrest with early lower console:

What I like about this design is that it is that I can put it in place to enjoy it's usefulness, and I can easily remove it when I want to enjoy the original design.

Ron, that looks great. Kepts the feel kind of retro, yet is very functional, yet removable. Is it hard to get to the cup in to rear hole? I guess the super mega big gulg is out of the question.

Beachboy, Yes, you do have to reach back to get to the back holder, but that's for the passenger, so it's not a problem for my old body. I sized the holes and the space between the top and bottom to take up to a 44 oz. big gulp or a cup without handles. A super big gulp? No, but now that you mention it, in the summer when it's up around 110° here I do ask if they sell the drinks in a 5 gallon bucket.

I'm still working on cleaning up all the little things on the body. Keep the pic's coming. Seeing something visual helps me determine which route I should take. :P
Hey Brady
Found this for sale in Canada. Major changes but thought you would be interested in his mod's for ideas. A bit over the top for my taste.

Thanks Jim,
I think this is over the top for me too. I want to keep some of the lines. I like a stock one.

This is an amazing idea. I'd kill for a cupholder in my spider.

Oh man, you Americans crack me up with your obsession with cup holders.

I think I can safely say that my Aussie compatriots corner, brake and accelerate their Fiats too hard to warrant the cup holders.

SpiderJim, although your probably done with your center console cup holders. you can find alot of really cool items such as cup holder inserts, switches and just things at this website. The more you dig around here, the funner it gets. http://www.rvandvansurplus.com

I checked that site out. I'm not really looking for a toilet nor sink and mattress. However, a few neat things like you said. Thanks much for the info but I'm now almost finished. Just installed the top yesterday and only need to pop in the speaker box and finish carpeting the trunk.
