Gutting the Cat
Re: Gutting the Cat
I guess that would work for a quick fix. I would still consider cutting the ends off your cat and making it a test pipe so when you go replace your exhaust. You are ready unless you keep this method.
Re: Gutting the Cat
Brady, do you mean leave the cat gutted and put a bolt on flange on each end?

Re: Gutting the Cat
I think he is saying that after you remove the cat and gut it. Put the same cat back on the car gutted. that way it looks untampered with and you don't have to buy any test pipes, flex pipes or anything.
Re: Gutting the Cat
I was courrious. Did the streight pipe change anything? Sound or HP? Anything even noticeable? I'm more interested in how your is reacting to being CAT-Less! I have been tempted to do something similar myself. Mine is carbed but I don't think that would make that much difference in being cat-less.
Re: Gutting the Cat
It made a difference for me only because the broken up ceramic was restricting the exhaust causing the car to bog down at higher rpm's. If the cat would have been good I really don't think removing it would have made that big of a difference.
