Other things that tick you off

Having finished my resto, I have been enjoying fall driving....one small thing...a slight rattle coming from the front or rear passenger side...sort of underneath..over the top end near the base..um close. This could only be heard when travelling close to a curb. Over the pit..checked everything that could move. Driveshaft seemed ok...mmm that center bearing block did look a bit old when I got it...naa could'nt be..So I soaked the bearing in CRC and went for a drive...silence ...AAARRGHHH !

Can not believe I did not replace it with the ujoints...%$#@*&!

I guess I could not wait to test my second hand 5 speed box...At 61 years old I must have been as blind as a welder's dog not to change out that bearing at the time.

Try greasing the slide joint on the drive shaft, there is a grease fitting just behind the rubber doughnut on the drive shaft.
these can make a rattle that will drive you batty. also make sure the rubber end cap is in place, usually it is removed and stays on the driveshaft, the cap is not as important than grease. 4-5 pumps from a gun should do it

I get it, everytime Sherman is doing some welding the dogs stand 3 feet away watching.
