The top to my newly acquired '82 Spider was damaged in transit. My insurance is paying for a new top, but I ran into a problem: the top fitter says that the top that was on the car was not original, and the header bow does not fit with the new top.
Two questions:
1. Is the manufacturer of the new top full of it, and trying to make excuses for why his top doesn't fit?
2. If not, does anyone know where I can get an original header bow, or at least, a good photo of one so that the top fitter can see the differences?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Allan

Re: Convertible top header bow
Allan,
All of the frames mount to the car the same way but the front header bow for your 82' should have rounded edges. Prior to 79' the header bows had squared off edges.

Re: Convertible top header bow
Update - the top fitter convinced the top supplier that they sent the wrong top. They are sending a replacement. We'll see if that solves the problem...
