Hood Needed
Hood Needed
Well, after some media blasting today it has come to my attention that the hood on my '76 Spider is welded and full of bondo. After seeing the inside of the left front fender and engine compartment area I believe the car was hit in the past. I haven't paid much attention to the one bump, two bump, large, small options. Do all of the hoods interchange? Does anyone have anything in good shape that they'd be interested in selling, preferably close to Iowa?
Thanks for the info...

Re: Hood Needed
I believe the hoods have different prop mechanisms.

Re: Hood Needed
I have a small hump hood in NJ. I wouldn't know about shipping it though. I think it would take some doing to protect it.

In a 76 i think its an 1800 you need small "tits" (no tits and you cant close the hood...) Yes and some year the hinges changes.
somewhere here was a nice post with pictures... and the "lifter" ist different...

I don't believe the hood prop or hinges changed until the big bump hood came around. I have plenty of flat hoods, but they're in NC.

Re: Hood Needed
Where are you located
Re: Hood Needed
No, I haven't. It's tough to find one nearby, and I think people are reluctant to ship due to the potential damage. I saw a couple on eBay the day I posted this thread, but I went back to look and didn't see them again. I'm still open to offers if anyone has anything. Again, my car is '76 if it matters for the hinges/locking mechanism.
Thanks!

Re: Hood Needed
What are the hoods going for. I told you I have a 78 small bump hood that has the hinge to the driver side. I'm in NJ. What would be the best way to ship a hood? If you need a trunk lid too. I can ship both together.
Re: Hood Needed
Hi Brady
I believe mine also has the hinge lock mechanism (holds the hood open) on the driver's side. I actually could use a good trunk lid. Mine had the luggage rack mounted to it, and I won't be putting it back on. I could fill the holes but there are a couple of other spots that need to be fixed. If you have a decent trunk lid that doesn't need any repairs I'd certainly be interested in it as well.
I honestly couldn't tell you what they'd be worth. If I remember right the hood I saw on eBay was listed for around $90.00 or $100.00 plus shipping. I'm not sure if it sold or if the auction ended with no winner. Shipping is really a crap shoot. I've seen stuff damaged from both FedEx and UPS so It's really more about how the drivers are feeling that day and how careful they are. You can shoot me some picks of what you have at Newell33 at gmail.com along with what you'd like to have out of them--if you're interested in selling.
Thanks!
