cross member compatability

Post by narfire »

After the thred on cross members... Question I've (the bodyshop) spliced a 79 front onto the 72(frankenfiat). I was wanting to use the 72 cross member for the 1608, but am now wondering if the 79 Xmember can be used,if so original mounts from the 72(spring loaded) work? The 79 has the indent in the frame but the 72 crossmember does not have the plate. Perhaps I can answer my own question...weld a plate onto the xmember? would that affect any centering issues?
Thanks guys/girls

I have a plate that you can have, ha, ha, ha. It's still sitting in my garage as a reminder of my pain. I, too, was worried about the geometry difference with and without the plate.
