a miricle happened today
I squeezed my spider out of the garage, i was sure i was gonna either scrape the vette or the alfa.
The clutch needs adjustment, and i need to install the parking brake cable and a different gas pedal. back to work.

Well done, Rey. I was just checking out your car last night on Guy Croft's site, and I envy it. What's the latest on your hood? I've always assumed that you're trying to comply with the emissions standards in your state by using your chosen air cleaners. True? Are you running trumpets under the air cleaners?
I have a similar set-up, 2.0 block, 1.8 head, IDFs on Waffle manifold in my '69 with its flat hood. I can get the hood closed, but clearance is pretty tight, so I've been running the carbs "open" for the past two thousand miles or so. How bad of an idea is this, and do you know of any other options that might "Eclipse" the need to bump the hood? I'm up here in western Oregon where amazingly, there are no emissions standards that I know of. I'm damn tempted to stick ram-air tubes through the hood, cause it'd look & sound bitchin'...
Also, I'm glad to see your other Spider in the background. I also have one of those. Mine's a black '77 with factory cherry red interior and a conversion to 40-DCOE carbs, which I wish I could use on the Fiat... My ALFA is my "nice" car, and my FIAT is my shabby chic hot-rod. Oh yeah, then there's the 850...
Happy motoring!

Re: a miricle happened today
Thanx for the compliments. My other spider in the back ground. Oh the pic on Crofts site. I dont have any emissions to deal with, thats why I run a 70' spider and a 74 x 1/9. At the moment I have a single carb, temporary. I got rid of the 40,s and the waffle and Im planning on running one of Allisons manifolds with a set of 44,s. I wasnt running trumpets with the ol setup. Running without an air cleaner is not the best thing to do. I wouldnt do it , but others have. From what I have read so far you can run a filter under your flat hood but it will be restrictive. You will give up a little power. I tend to try and stray away from the normal path that everyone takes and try and look for a different setup that actually works. The hood hasnt been given up on, Im just tinkering so much that any hoods in the way. Ill get it finished someday. Heres the cars I had to squeeze between, its aot tighter then it looks.
I got the pedal in, but I had to remove the manifold and carb. Getting the spring on the pedal is a bitch, so Ill try again in the mornin.

I was wondering how long it would take for the king of one liners to chime in.

Dude, you are either single or have the most understanding wife in the world . If my wife can not access everything in the garage, it's a nag fest at my house. I keep telling her I don't want her in the garage but it doesn't work. More power to ya man.

Katsi, the ol wife was a pain in the a%%. Thankfully, she is gone. I only let my girlfriend have about 5 square feet of that garage, otherwise she would fill it up in a day. The rest of her stuff is in storage, and the garage is considered my toy box. It wont even ever go up for discussion. And , I must say, my girlfriend is pretty good about understanding what Im all about. Just this weekend I told her I thought she was getting a little carried away with her nagging or hen pecking{ she does it mosyly to mess with my head}, She apoligized and gave me a big hug.
Re: a miricle happened today
Are you guys kidding. My wife would be glad my stuff stayed in the garage. I tend to bring it in and take over the kitchen. Once she gets her kitchen back. Nothing is said about the garage.

Unfortunatly, the whole house is mine. One bedroom is used for stocking my shipping supplies, and another holds parts that are cleaned and waiting to be shipped. My mom and my girlfriend can only shake thier head in disbelief. . Anyways, Im the one the does the cooking for everyone around here, so I guess the kitchen is mine too.
Well, back to what Im doing. I was going to put a new brake cable in, but funds are way low with no work so I just installed a used one that was burned thru by the exhaust. I bought some heat tape and wrapped it to prevent any furthur damage. Ive been running this car for quite a while with no parking brake at all. Next job for down here needs to be the driveshaft. It needs to be swapped out.
In this pic or the carb, is this fitting supposed to be used for fuel return?

Yes if its been drilled and has a fitting.
I like having the return as it reduces the likelihood of overwhelming the float and its valve.

Thats kinda what I thought. The carb isnt that old and the top gasket has seepage all around. I figured Id be better off running the return line.
