E Brake Cable

Post by halg »

I am trying to find out the length(ball to ball) of a stock spider e brake cable. I am hoping that the spider cable is the same length as the rear portion of a coupe cable. The coupe cable has a second cable that goes to the handle around a pulley. IAP doesn't have a coupe cable. I hope someone has a new(not installed) cable to measure,it would be easier to measure off the car.

Hal, you seam to be good at fabrication. Any way you can use the 80" cable and make up for it with the bracket or pulley?

Lets say we were talking about the spider e-brake mechanism and you had a short cable. You install the cable in the yoke, but can't get it stretched enough to go into the threaded adjuster rod. OK, well that adjuster rod is simply a threaded rod with a 90 deg. bend at the end and a hole drilled to accept the cotter pin. Just make a longer rod that extends further back to catch the yoke. Not a concourse piece, but how many people will be evaluating the originality of the hand brake mechanism under the car?

Yes I can make just about anything, I just don't always have time to make everything.
