got my interior perfect this weekend

Post by 84pininfarinablack »

Ok a hard weekend of work but its 98% done. its alot more time consuming if your trying to do everything perfectly which im sure Its not but close.. While i did the carpet I also did all the " while your down there you outta do this " stuff.
So I painted dash / center console / quarter panels front and rear / rear interior plastic / upper door panels / arm rests / upper center console (84 model) I went with the plastic paint from lowes which was a light coffee color. The plastic paint worked out great turns out its the same thing as vinyl paint. It really made everything look shiny and new and you cant tell it was painted. Its very different from the stock beige color (less yellow).
I also put in the new carpet from lowes which looks amazing with the light coffee interior. I have also added a perfect but used chrome parking break bezel. I replaced or reconditioned ever single interior part. And the interior is almost perfect. Im going to fix the couple of minor issues remaining but wow.. Showroom new interior I couldnt be happier with it. took 4 days and 140 on paint and carpet. 200 for the nice jvc stereo. (with sat, usb , bluetooth). 300 for perfect upper center console. 25 ashtray. 35 parking bezel. 20.00 worth of black rubberized coating for the floors. 20.00 armest. $5.00 for a new 13 foot antenna cable. 60.00 perfect steering wheel. $800 estimate. to restore the interior which was flat destroyed.. except for good seats.
I paid $500 for the car.. So $1300 into it plus $300 for new brakes / rotors/ hoses / master cylinder. $300 new canvas top. $1900 and it runs perfect. Im going to do a little more body work and then get a very good paint job. probably in the 2k range. so Ill be into this thing $4000 total and it will be very cherry. I may even get the engine rebuilt but ill wait till it needs it. This forum is great and you people are great.. thank you for all your help in putting this ride together. you all should help take the credit.. NADA says the 1984 spider is worth 16,500 mint and 7,500 average retail. (not sure i believe them) Im going to have one of the nicest ones around soon for $4000 - $5000 range. Amazing but i guess thats because i did all the work myself.. and I didnt have to goto fiat college because i had you guys to nag with questions. Ill be ready for #2 soon.. ill bet they just get easier and easier. thanks guys ill post the pics on this thread as soon as i have them..

ya those pics are coming.. I just have to touch up the quarter panels and put them in still. The glove box door needs replacing too.. Ill probably put another $100 into the glove door and more speakers. Dont want to put up pictures till its complete looking at least.. just a few screws to go..

ok blurry pics are up ..
http://headwebmaster.com/fiat.html

youll notice the difference in the coffee color.. the upper door panels and quarter panels are the old beige.. yet the center console and dash are coffee..
Its not done yet.. I didnt even screw in the quarter panels.. gotta paint them next..
Im torn between the tan and the coffee.. any input would be great.

No worries, I will take additional photos on the weekend and share them. If everything goes as plan we will be replacing the timing belt in his car at my place.

Jaime, is he aware of the dress code? I would hate for him to show up for a wrenching session in a dirty jump suit or something :D
