I have been watching this thread and am still wondering where the water came from???? You said it wasn't in a flood but wow, that is sure strange. Anybody here have any other thoughts? By the way, sorry for your misfortune with this thing but it sure is entertaining!

Jeff, it could have been... I just could not find any other indication of being in a flood.

Wachuko,

You are amazing. I can't believe you took that thing apart.

I don't understand though. Are you intending to rebuild it?

Anyway, this is one great thread.

Thanks,

Doug

I had never taken apart a transmission... so I figured, what is the worst that could happen? That I learn from this one and share what I find with the forum... should help others like me that are afraid to tackel stuff like this in more worthy cars.

The plan is to clean it, seal it, and put it back so that I can move the car around on its own power. Right now everything looks like I can do just that. Speedometer will not work unless I find those used parts somewhere... but car should be able to shift now.

My wife and children would kick me out if I take too much time away from them... so after picking up the children from school, doing homework, dinner, and getting them to go to sleep, I sneak in the garage and work a few hours... in those days that I work from home I skip lunch to also progress some stuff.

The first day I fired up the engine it was 12:30am. With the other cars, after working on them, I have been known to take test drives at 3-4am :)
