Turbo Spider on Ebay

Post by sptcoupe »

This is a nice looking car, but for that price, you would think they could fix the broken driver's seat.

Amazing that during their''costly level two'' restoration ,that nobody bothered to open the freakin' hood.Beautiful car otherwise.Pretty optomistic on the price

I always enjoy reading the descriptions from car dealers. They state that the car doesn't have any Fiat badges (since that obviousbly cuts the value), yet everyone of the 20 pix of the hood clearly show the Fiat badge. Reading the description of their level two restoration is merely to remove all of the trim before paint.

Obviously smoking dope. It is probably worth only a little more than half of what he is asking for it. the "perfect dash" doesn't look perfect to me either.

I must say I miss my turbo Spider. I sold it a couple of years ago because I was afraid of it! If something had gone wrong with the turbo unit I don't know what I would have done. I must say it was noticeably faster than any Spider I have driven. But then I haven't driven any souped up models. It was pretty cool to have one of those. You guys are too funny. But, I totally agree with you. They state that they are the original miles. How do they know? Maybe the car "originally" has 133K on it. HA HA! Yet, it does look really pretty. The seat covers are nice and the inside looks almost showroom. Finally, I like the gold trim. Nice car. But, you could probably build 3 just as nice for that price.

Later Spiders have a six-digit odometer, so it wouldn't be a roll over. I agree that the car is very nice, and the mileage probably is original (Turbo models typically had very short lives, you rarely see an original one with more than 60k miles). But at that price, the car would have to be 100% perfect. That means not having a crusty old engine bay, seat covers that look like they are two sizes too big, scuff marks on the dash, plastic chrome peeling off the door panel trim, and stripes that look like a 2nd grader cut them out by hand (look at the close up pix of the doors), etc.

My car is far from perfect, but then I wouldn't be asking 17 large for it either. At $10k -- which is still a lot of money for one of our beloved Spiders -- it looks like a pretty decent buy so long as the mechanicals have all had recent attention.

I agree with John,

My original Turbo Spider ( '81) has 150,0000 miles on it !, however they could of changed the speedo over from another car.

It must be that 1981 was the year change to 6 digit odometers. My 80 FI has a 5 digit plus 10th wheel.
