Spider Value

Post by tonysfiat »

I checked out ebay motors yesterday there is a so. calif. dealer listing a restored 83 spider for a buy it now of 35,000.00 and a starting bid of 25k.

Wow did not think prices would go that high, no one bid yet.

maybe that's why there is no bid yet.

barrett jackson tv show is driving up everyone's perception.

and, as us baby boomers age, we wax nostalgic.

I saw that Spider listed in San Diego. Even though the cost to do a restoration probably approaches that figure, rarely can you recoup the actual cost when reselling.

many forget that they gotta deduct the hobby expense from their total cost.

unless you gotta room full of people with too much money, and a 60's muscle car, your chances of approaching those values are slim.

Kinda crazy pricing when you realize you can buy a used Ferarri for $35,000. I wish them luck because the greater number of cars that sell for big bucks, the more mine will be worth!!!

if only it worked that way.

"worth" and "value" are relative terms. Relative to if you can find a buyer willing to pay what you ask.

with the only two fiats in the county, i carry little "worth" on my vehicles.

the "value" goes way down after labor day.

and, if you are not selling.....only your insurance man likes the added resale cost of your car. his profits are based on your premium which goes up when your listed resale price does.

maybe we can convince every potential seller to price their car in the 5 digit range. If every Spider for sale is at least 10,000 it might convince potential buyers that the cars are really worth that amt. After all, why pay $35k when you can buy truckloads for $2k?
