Global Warming?
While some may debate the cause, and those in the East may debate whether Global Warming even exists, here in the land of the Winter Olympics, I've just cut my lawn!! It's February 23 for crying out loud!! We live a few miles south of the 50th parallel...

Re: Global Warming?
I suspect those in the south east might debate it, but here in the north east it's the mildest February I can remember. Normally this week is minus 20 C or worse, but right now it's +1 C and will be all week. It definitely feels like spring, knock on wood.

Maybe Al Gore is in Canada and it just follows him around like a dark cloud?
Re: Global Warming?
Global warming is a crock of stinky toenails. Its like everyone forgot about plate tectonics and continental drift. Just because we humans walk the earth now doesn't mean that the crust we walk on has stopped moving. Were not that special. Its like its never mentioned anymore. Things happen, thats what happens when you walk on crust supported by lava and gas. Nothing of importance has happened for many many years. Things will happen, people will act like they are in shock because something happened, get a grip my children enjoy the ride. You only get 80 revolutions on this ride. Live it up.

The theory of human-caused global warming has imploded almost as quickly as Tiger Woods' reputation.

Re: Global Warming?
What do plate tectonics have to do with global warming? You folks up on the mainland may doubt it, but it is evident every day down near the equator. I've grown up on this rock and it has gotten noticeably hotter over the past 7 or 8 years.

Global warming
What about giant space meteors smashing into the planet
or the Azatec doomsday calnder where we all die in 2012 ( I watch to much history channel0
or evil pandemics sweeping the lands or locus, fire and brimstone, angry / hungry spave aliens
Then there is the plan getting hit by a bus or choking on a peanut while home alone.
Even the plan boring going to sleep and never waking up
We are all doomed one way or the other.
Screw it just drop the top, drive fast and enjoy the time your here.

You live on top of a volcano, a very large heat source. the heat comes from within the earth, radiates outwards. Thats why its so hot there. I used to live in a tiny speck of a town called Pahoa. Thats on the Big Island. Back in 92' you could drive on the black crusty lava where it over ran the roads, look into sink holes in the crust and see car shells and street signs. Could drive down to that famous spot where it pours into the ocean. But not no more, stay away they say. I will never forget when i seen an 8 door station wagon. I think it was a hotel thing.boogiedude wrote:What do plate tectonics have to do with global warming? You folks up on the mainland may doubt it, but it is evident every day down near the equator. Wow, I live down here in southern TX and it freaking snowed here yesterday. Maybe you guys are just experiencing some nice weather because all your cold air is blowing down south! So, quit complaining or Al Gore will take your carbon spewing Fiat and turn it into a transit bus.

Re: Global Warming?
There is only one hot spot in hawaii, it's in the oceanic crust, miles underwater. It has no effect on the day to day weather and temperature. The only place where you could possibly give blame to the volcano for heat would be on the big island, near the flows. And even that is a far far far stretch of the imagination. That's like saying leaving your oven door open will warm the neighborhood. I'm on O'ahu.MNspiderman wrote:You live on top of a volcano, a very large heat source. the heat comes from within the earth, radiates outwards. Thats why its so hot there. A large part of the education system here involves plenty of oceanography and geology to understand our unique situation, being the worlds most active volcanic area. And there is no correlation between a single, slow erupting volcano and heat over a several thousand square mile area. Weather patterns are changing, yes they do change naturally. But green house gasses speed up the process dramatically. Hence the dawning realization that we need to limit the emission of them or otherwise speed up climate change faster than plants and animals can adapt to it.

We're expecting a cold front tonight (that's South Florida lingo for temps in the low 40's). Time to use the seat warmers in the car again! Global warming, my @$$.

Re: Global Warming?
The only global warming I have seen lately is the rise in everyone's temperature around here. I hope everyone steps back, takes a deep breath and remembers that as opinions vary, and we disagree with each other, we need treat others as we want to be treated. Spring will soon be upon us and we can drive out our frustrations in Fiat fashion!
