engine replacement

I have a 1979 2000 and would like to know if I can replace the original engine with a rebuilt engine from a 1980 2000? Are there any kind of modifications that need made, or are both engines the same set up. Any thing that I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help.

should be a direct swap, unless you are going for a fuel injected '80 engine; in which case there are several additional connections that need to be considered.
