Tyres (tires)

Post by corbara »

Hi all. Maybe i'm going slightly over the top but the P600 Pirellis on my 85 still have some tread BUT the rubber has gone really "hard" and the tyres look like they're seen better times. Clearly, as the original factory tyres were Pirelli P6s I tend to assume that I should stick with that make.
Does anyone (everyone) have an opinion on the best tyres for our spiders? I've been on the Italian Pirelli website where you can get the best tyre recommendation. For the Spidereuropa it comes out with either: Pirelli P6000 or the P6 "Cinturato" (on 185/60x14). Does anyone have any past experiences with these tyres or can you point in a better direction. I figure that if i'm going to get 4 new tyres I might as well buy the most appropriate model. Thanks for any imput.

That is a great quetion.

Pirelli is an awesome brand and makes some fantastic tires. My suggestion would be to buy the best tire for your driving needs and your economic limits.

I too, went through the same process. Ventura Ace started a thread a few years back that may be helpful. Go tirerack.com and check out that site. Plenty of tires to look at along with reviews, and best of all pricing. A lot depends on how you drive your car. Do you want an all season tire, do you want a quiet smooth ride, or do you drive your car in the summer only and want performance? I ended up buying tires from a friend of mine and he suggested the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 for my needs. As for how I like them, I wont know until the two feet of snow melts.

Good luck

I'm looking for a 90% summer tyre with little road noise, that doesn't wear too quickly. The Pirelli P6 Cinturato has great reviews and no doubt today's tyres are better than those made 20 years ago? Price-wise, all the leading makes are pretty much the same price in our part of the world (France/Italy). Thanks for the advice.
