Not at all related to FIATS, but an incredible flying machine and great engineering. Now, how would you FIAT fanatics use this if you had one in your garage?

Re: Amazing Machine
That thing is unreal!! WOW With all the physics involved with keeping a copter in the air,I cant believe that it will stay aloft and hover with no hands on the controls.I wish I had that thing when I lived in Fla.My neighbor was an 'exotic' dancer and her and her friends liked to tan by the pool...behind the 8' privacy fence they put up for some reason!

Re: Amazing Machine
That's kinda what immediately came to my mind, too.....
Re: Amazing Machine
Cool stuff... but it's just a takoff of what's been done in R/C for some time, also Georgia Tech has a competition that does Autonomous Robotic flight which uses GPS/Laser systems to retreive and drop objects... part od DARPA funds...
I work some contracts for Aurora Flight Sciences in Mananssas, VA... they create UAV's for the govenment... take a look at what they created... the Goldeneye UAV's have a similar flight characterristics...
http://www.aurora.aero/TacticalSystems/GoldenEye50.aspx
and there are similar toys you can buy that look like the above though less technical and without the GPS feature though it could be added.

Re: Amazing Machine
I would put some crazy lights on it and trick people into thinking they just saw a UFO.
Re: Amazing Machine
It would be better if we bought them as a group and flew them together then pople would really freak out!
That would be a great road rally feature, your navigator also has to fly your machine over your Spider while you drive. Now that sounds like a game!

Re: Amazing Machine
Are you sure this isn't Jeff in the video trying to shoot that R/C UFO... I'll tell you it sounds like a machine gun going off and yet not one single shot brought it down... and it was a big target too... it's hilarious!

Re: Amazing Machine
Two things. First, that wasn't a range oin Texas with Texans shootin' at it, and second, I'm glad those guys don't have to kill what they eat with those shotguns, or thye'd be mighty hungry!
Re: Amazing Machine
Well actually I looked at an RC target system at last years Shot Show. It was a big delta wing with a bunch of little explode on impact modules on the bottom so when the pilot flies it by you on an angle you can shoot the bottom and they blow up with lots of flame and smoke supposedly without destroying the RC aircraft. The problem was they wanted almost 12K for the system and as fun as it sounds to shoot I doubt I could get any return on that investment.
Re: Amazing Machine
Man, I actually have one of those UFO flying saucers. You can just go verticle with them and, they already have crazy lights on them. Pretty cool at night but, they get uncontrollable at about 19 ft. Don't mess with them over concrete if you're going for heigth. They get F'd up when they slam into the ground.
