16" wheels and tires on a Spider

a few days ago someone asked about 16" wheels on a Spider. I've got one customer with that setup and the car came in today. The tires are 205-40-16. Here are the pics;

I like big wheel / small tire combo, when tastefully done. But to me, that looks like too much wheel for the classic body-style.

To each his own...but I dont care for that look on the Spider.But hey,there are a lot of people that dont like the 15'' wheels on there.

Mark, did you see any overstressed body or suspension parts due to the -40- tires? Was any strengthening done to the bodywork ie suspension?

That car recently blew out the top shock mount on the front end, needed to be welded back together.

the upper shock mount was repaired some years ago, long before the 16" tires were mounted
