the game=GREAT, the non-game=BA-ORING
so the sensationalism of the unsensational begins today with the debates and discussions on the good/bad/ugly Superbowl commericals. everyone, it seems have gotta throw in their two cents on the commercials... but i'd like to know where and to whom i can complain the choice of two 65 year old, over the hill rockers that can no longer hold a tune... and the half time show. show? how about waste of time, go take a leak and get a refill !! Peter, are you really that hard up for cash? Roger, thought you'd have cashed it in by now.... how many face lifts have you had?
hasn't it been long enough since Janet had her "accident"? couldn't we even discuss something other than the over-the-hill gang? How about Harry Blackstone, or Harry Anderson, or even a hairy ape? how about gathering up the worst of the worst from the past 5 seasons of American Idol...Even more dribble from the talking heads would have been more entertaining than that scary trip down rock-n-roll memory lane.
Townsend embarrassed the heck out of himself when he chose to attempt to sing the high notes that were a stretch for even him when he was in his prime. who decided it was a good idea to try those lyrics? i think i will be cringing the next time i see my Who CD collection, just remembering that debacle.
the light display on that stage must have cost more than the GNP of Uraguay. impressive? sure, from a technical aspect. but, i for one could not make the connection between the stage and the performers. Like having a fuel cell powering the lights on a model T.... they just don't go together.
RETIRE Pete! Stay home Roger... keep those replacement drummers away from the stage too. you had your chance, and i appreciated the LPs and the cassettes. I might confess to still know where my WHO wall poster is stored... but, my ears are still hurting by your massacre of your own 40 year old songs.

the whole NFL season is a huge waste of time, the Stupor Bowl is just the final nail in the coffin

My wife and I decided to spend half time in the hot tub. Based on Mike's description, it was the right move. Glad I saw the game though.

We never cared much for pro football, but ACC season is upon us and that's far more entertaining to me. So, do people really watch this stuff for the commercials? How were they?

Re: the game=GREAT, the non-game=BA-ORING
Game? What game? I wasn't watching, but my younger son came up to make sure I saw the Who.
I thought they did rather well, especially for their age. They actually looked good, especially compared to the Stones but I suppose that isn't saying much since anyone outside a pine box looks better than the Stones...
Roger played his harmonica and sang quite well, Pete never was much of a vocalist so having him mail it in was fine. The hard part was listening to the clean, fluid recording of the backing vocals on Who Are You which didn't go with the live format. It was distracting seeing some youngster laboring over the drums trying to look capable and like he was adding something. One has to remember that Pete is nearly deaf from the past crushing from doing all those over the top concerts.
It certainly beat seeing one of the Jackson teats, that was one scary moment...

Hurry before they're all gone ...

My biggest disappointment were the commercials. A few funnies by Dorito's, and that Monster beaver violinist, but not much else. The Census department advertising on the Super Bowl? My tax dollars at work

my favorite team too. they currently have no where else to go but up.engineerted wrote:Ted Go Lions
yeah, it was a great game. the commercials are WAY over rated. i couldn't figure out all the self promotion the netword did. must be they couldn't sell enough slots at a bazillion dollars per minute.

That's why they call it the World Championship then!
Usually when you hold a World Championship you invite somebody else in the World. Now it makes sense. They invite other bands in the World.
