That is not a 5-point harness in that Electric Fiat 500, those are grounding straps to isolate you from the Fiat electrical system and hazard switch.

This weekend is the Houston Auto Show. I emailed the organizers to ask if Chrysler was showing any FIATS or Alfas, and they are not. Too bad, now is the time to start generating interest in the new products, and they just missed a shot at the fourth largest city in the US. Can anybody chat with Sergio?

I'm jealous. If I had built in airbags like that I wouldn't be so afraid of sitting so close to dash when driving.

i wish we could talk to him. even when Fiat takes the opportunity... they don't capitalize on it. the reason you don't have any Fiats in your show is because Fiat sent too few display samples... they are currently in DC or in transit elsewhere.

huge display costing tens of thousands of dollars just for the Italian cars in Detroit... yet not one piece of literature? OK, fine. you dunn have pricing, you dunn have a dealer network strategy worked out... but ... what are the standard options? what colors, what seating packages, any without air or radio? what pamphlet can i take home to the Missus to show her the reasonable looking Fiat i saw at the show?

Fiat is not ready for this market, that is what i interpret the lack of info to mean. or, they expect the car will simply sell itself when made available (bad mistake).

or, and i mean this honestly (minor tongue in cheek)... they expect those cute little girls to sell the cars for them ?? if so, they have a rude awakening in the USA. my wife would not have been impressed.

Mike, they are not ready because they are not coming out this year. Next year, they will have the literature, when they come out towards the end of 2011 or early 2012. Those are going to be 2012 models and will be built in the good old USA. The dont have options and colors picked out yet.

It appears to me she has already been in an accident and the air bags have already deployed. She looks really happy for just having that happen, poor thing must still be in shock.

i think you are mistaking that look on her face as a smile. it is actually a grimace; she is fighting the strain of forward top-heaviness, and it is hurting her neck and shoulder muscles. notice how the right foot must be planted so far forward of body center to keep balance?

I think you're right, Mike. It must also be a bummer not to have shirts to fit either. I don't have THAT problem. 8)
