I just bought another spider. It's a '79 carb model. Red with tan interior (current spider is red '78 with black interior). Runs, drives, dies at idle. Needs front seat upholstery and a new top.

I paid $200. I pick it up tomorrow.

wow, great price for a runner! Check the idle cutoff solenoid for the dying problem

Congrats! I love my 79. Great price too.
I started playing with mine after it was given to me to get it back in running condition and I have to admit, it got me back into playing with cars after a long time. Now it's one of my projects and I'm hooked!

I picked it up yesterday. Better than I expected.

Body is good, one small dent near right front side marker, but you have to look for it. All lenses present, missing Pinninfarina badges. Driver's door missing lock cylinder. Broken antenna. Needs door window wipers.
Needs a top, back window torn.

Paint is present but oxidized. I think I can save it. Dark red with beige pinstriping. No scratches.

Starts right up but dies after 3 seconds. You can keep it running, but it won't idle. Idle solenoid is bad. Heater hoses bypassed.

Seats, door panels, carpet, shift knob and center console are shot. Driver's seat leans. All lights, guages, switches and accessories work as they should except for the CD player. Main dash and radio console are perfect.

I drove it 75 miles home without a single complaint. It rides and handles like new. Seems pretty fast, faster than my '78.

All for $200. I'm pretty jazzed.
