Rare find.. to say the least
Rare find.. to say the least
Back in the early to mid 70's if you went to a dealership.. you might see one of these.. for an x19
Or maybe and accessories catalog?
need a hardtop?
What if you need to order some parts and need to know how to service them and the prices?
If you were a mechanic working at a dealership that sold Fiats you may have used these shop manuals
Theres 2 boxes of this stuff.. 850, 124, 128, 600d, x19, coupes etc.. It's all here, including 2 brand new still in the packaging.. car owners manual for a 124 sport spider and an 850 in mint condition. If i get the time this summer, i'll take the 124 manual and make it into a pdf, it has good information, and it's in great condition.

Great find. Please consider offering some of what you are not interested in or don't want on some of the other forums before hitting Ebay (Mirafiora, Xweb and others). Also even if do sell it all off, anything you can scan and distribute would be a wonderful gift to the entire community. I would be happy to help though I am a fair bit away.
Some really great stuff there the more I look. So much of the sales collateral material just disappeared over the years, its great to see some resurface.

Re: Rare find.. to say the least
This stuff is a hand me down kind of deal from one friend to another, The local dealership here in town which sold some of the cars went under(late 90's), and was given off to the only mechanic who owned one, stored in a garage, and just the other week I rescued these from some cardboard boxes that were deteriorating fast. They're currently stored in plastic sealed bins out of the weather, and will be happy to scan into pdf's for anyone. These do not belong to me, but my father. I'm only 24, his friend was the mechanic who gave them to him. It's needless to say a unique collection, and If anyone wanted to buy some of it, it would not be up to me, but that doesn't mean I can't pass that information off to him. After this spring semester is done and over with (maybe June or so) expect to see some pdf's appear on this site! 124's are the priority, but I'll be sure to scan the others as well. The more requests I get for any given book first, I'll scan priority that way.kmead wrote:Great find. Re: Rare find.. to say the least
Could you check and see if there are any 124 frame or chassis dimension charts? These would look like a bottom view of the car without any components. Just holes where things go with lots of dimensions. Ones for both Spiders and Coupes would be excellent (the Sedan and the Coupe I believe use the same chart).
I know its something I need and there is another member trying to figure out an alignment problem he thinks is related to a dimensional variation on his car (the upper A arm holes to the engine subframe).
Thanks!

Re: Rare find.. to say the least
Next time I'm out there, I'll take a look. I want to say yes, I saw a diagram something like that, but we'll just have to wait and see. It seems to have everything. Does anyone know the best way to scan the documents into a pdf?kmead wrote:Could you check and see if there are any 124 frame or chassis dimension charts? Re: Rare find.. to say the least
My scanner will scan direct to PDF, my printers/xerography machines at work will email a pdf of a scan to my inbox (this is a feature of many office printing systems).
Alternatively you can scan jpgs, tiffs or a variety of other image formats, if you have the full version of Acrobat, you can then drag the files onto Acrobat and create a pdf. If you can scan them you can email the image files to others who do have the complete software package.
There are other programs available from other sources besides Adobe that can create pdf files. If you are a Mac owner you can create a pdf of any file as a part of the operating system.

Re: Rare find.. to say the least
I've started manually scanning this page by page and it's very slow and tedious. I would use a feeder, but I'm worried the aged paper might not survive. I'm currently scanning the Fiat 124 coupe and spider specifications/data and dealership parts/servicing manuals. These are all original (printed in Italy) and I'll be publishing them on google for anyone to download. As in my other post:
http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7537
I will build a complete collection for all the documentation that I have. I went through it all yesterday evening, I have documentation for the 124 coupe / spider, 128 and 131 models. I even have a brand new owners manual for a 124 sport spider and a 128.
Here's a sample of one of the pages from the specifications and data book (Keep in mind it may take a few to load, each picture is @ 600 dpi ~ 20 mb per page):

Once it's all said and done the files won't take up as much space, but I want the pdf to be the best quality possible.
