Been sanding....
Been sanding....
Here's where it sits right now. I just spent 12 hours total sanding this side of the body. I'm using a cheap orbital sander and a wire wheel on my drill. I've been through about 20 sanding discs and around 5 little cheapo masks.
The bottom of the car is all done- sanded, repainted and undercoated. The rear-end is cleaned and completely re-painted... Plus a bunch more has been restored.
I still need a dash, 2 consoles and seats.
I give it another year and a half.

Wow! you almost caught me. Nice clean garage. Where do you keep all the stuff?
Re: Been sanding....
I jam it wherever it fits. Mostly in front of the car where you can't see. It's just a standard 2 car garage and my SUV parks next to it. Dusty.

Looks like you're doing it right! You'll be glad you took pics while you progressed. I didn't think it was that important and now I wish I would have taken the time to document all that was done to mine.

Re: Been sanding....
The digital camera has been a boon to many of my projects. Nothing like some nice, high-def photos to help put it back the way it was. I've used it on car projects, wiring, you name it. My next project is using my external drive to save some of the thousands of pictures i have, and delete some crap.
Re: Been sanding....
Caveman tools.
This is after about 5 more hours of sanding and mostly wire wheeling. The door jamb was done with a wheel only.
I took off the rocker panel (it's sitting in the car there) and attacked the area under it with the wheel.
You can see the bottom of the gas tank there; It's just there because it was the best place to store it... Until I get ready to clean it up.
Those are my slotted wheels. I love those.
And there on the wall is my header, that I need to powdercoat or something.
Fun.

Re: Been sanding....
Looking good! Been there done that. What a pain in the ass to sand. If your plan is to strip it down to bare metal, then you may find it more efficient to use a chemical stripper. A good one is Aircraft striper, it can be found at most auto parts stores. Brush it on and cover it with plastic wrap and wait, then scrape it off, then the remaining is easily sanded off. This will save your arm and hands from all that vibrations of the sander. Just my two cents. Are you going to paint it yourself?

That would be 1999 Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red. PPG Base coat clear coat. It is a deeper red than the fiat red.
