My ignition program
Re: My ignition program
First, thanks for the compliments. Kinda reminds me of a song I listened to today, ordinary average guys... Secondly, this is just a modified stock compression engine. It is not a race car. Im just pleased with the overall performance from idle quality to the top end. Jason Miller was having a hard time with my set-up at the time. We ended up mounting the sensor on the front lip of the oil pan.I think he has probably perfected it since. Im not really sure mine is exactly set at tdc, but with programing it on the fly, the chart I offered may have a plus or minus. I was very cautious about having to much timing, and carefully watched the temp gauge. Making your own reluctor would be too cool! Also loosing all that weight with the aluminum crank pulley has added benefits. Things keep changing with this system, the Mega-jolt site is probably the best place to answer some of these questions. I mounted the coil pak on the cold side of the engine in front of the carb using the front bolts from the cam box. You can use the stock Ford wires then, and they are special, and hard to duplicate. It also gave me a great place to secure the dip-stick too. Funny thing, posting pics has always prooved a challenge for me . Im off to pick up the dog dodoo, hope its not hard... HA! The main thing is really if you run a distributor, its important to have the base timing and total timing for proper performance. There are some good folks that can re-curve distributors, and you will not be dissapointed. Anyone that has questions, or can inform me, please feel free!
