Say what you want, but I think the Bertone 850 Spider is BITCHIN'. I found a deal I couldn't pass up only 30 miles from me here in Eugene, Oregon. It's a '68, which is the first year of the 903 CC motor.
Best of all, EVERYTHING WORKS! Every little thing... That's amazing. There is also very little rust. Just one three finger sized hole in the pan, & that's it.I drove it home at full choke without any problems. I sorted out the 30 mm carb issues just fine, but it starves for fuel every few miles. My remedy has been gross: I've been taking the fuel line off the carb and blowing directly into it until I hear it bubbling in the gas tank, which is directly behind the motor. That seems to clear a clot, or some such thing.
I've taken out the fuel gauge sending unit to have a look-see into the tank, and it looks pretty clean, as does the sending unit, which got a spray down with carb cleaner to make sure the line is cleared out. I have to wait until I get off work to reinstall the sending unit ,but I didn't have that "there's your problem" moment when I inspected the tank & sending unit.
Any other ideas? maybe an electric fuel pump & regulator combo to replace the factory fuel pump?
The thing is a kick in the pants to drive. It's remarkably solid for what it is, and its fully independent suspension takes hard cornering very well. It's like a golf cart that just smoked crack...
Thanks for replies, and any 850 stories/impressions

congrats on the new car, how about some pics?
As for your fuel issue, I'd check the integrity of the lines on the suction side of the pump first
