has anyone had problems with Daytonapsyder dot com

Post by bruce bennett »

They seem to have a fairly large presence on ebay and I have been looking at his auctions now for over a year.

about 40 days ago, some items came up that was just what I needed, so I pulled the trigger for a thermostat and hose kit.

paid with paypal,
1 week goes by, no parts or emails, no word of any kind.

So I email, a week goes by, no word, I telephone, Full mail box with an apology for a message, I email again.
week goes by no word,
I email again, no word,
another week
I email again, no word.

So this morning I send a email warning of rightly deserved bad feedback, and impending chargeback if i continue to be ignored.
I gave him till friday.

anyone else have this type experience with DaytonaSpyder dot com?
anyone have a recommendation for another supplier?

I hope not to have problems. I purchased an exhaust manifold from them, got an e-mail the same day. Seemed fine.

With that kind of feedback they must be doing something right.

I believe that PayPal has a complaint resolution system that you should investigate.

and, yes, there are several other suppliers for those particular parts. send me an email and i will getcha going elsewhere.

Great... I ordered some minor parts from them almost 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything either. I love these guys that have their little "ebusiness" and then don't have the follow-through to ship their parts. I am sure the money is already spent though...

Follow up;

I received an email today from them. ( isn't it funny how they always answer quickly when you show a little anger)

I was told that the owner has bone cancer and that he has been in treatment for the last 3 weeks. and that my parts were sent out yesterday.

To be honest, I find this kinda odd as they have been selling and posting new auctions everyday since the begining of my situation. and they have been receiveing more good feedback the whole while as well,

also they did not send a tracking number, so until I get the parts, I'm really just waiting to see...

at this point I'm thinking that maybe I was just the one cat that "got lost in the shuffle"

Maybe thats all there is to it.. but the parts should be here in about 4 days.. so, I guess I'll wait.. for now.

He's not a member of the Better Business Bureau (which doesn't really mean too much). However, here's his feedback from BBB: http://www.orlando.bbb.org/newsearch2.a ... 0221921682

When my grandfather had bone cancer, it wasn't a three-week treatment. I'm no expert and he may be on the level (if so, I wish him a clean bill of health and rapid healing). However, neither of these sound like three-week programs for bone cancer (compliments of Cancer Treatment Centers of America):

Fractionated Dose Chemotherapy divides a powerful dose of drugs into smaller doses, given over several days. This approach exposes cancer cells to the drugs for a longer period of time, while also seeking to reduce the unpleasant side effects often experienced with larger doses.

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) for the most advanced form of conformal radiotherapy. IMRT employs a powerful, advanced computer program that plans a precise dose of radiation in three dimensions based on individual tumor size, shape and location. Remarkably, it allows for higher radiation doses than traditional radiotherapy methods, while sparing more of the surrounding healthy tissue.

Careful with this one guys, Daytona's been discussed in past threads. (Before FS.com went down)

I've not personally dealt with them but I have read about similar problems. They are known for flakiness.

Good Luck

I can confirm it. Purchased an exhaust header from them on e-bay. Picture is of a beautiful new header, looks almost chromed. I just got it in the mail. Slightly rusty in parts and painted black. I can almost make out the gasket outline and there is some carbon inside, so I think it is used. It is a quality part as far as workmanship, but a serious mis-representation.

No problems as far as responding in time and shipping though.

AVOID THESE GUYS!!!

Alright, I retract my warning to avoid them. Just proceed with caution. Spoke with the owner, David, directly today. They had several used headers and several new headers. His warehouse people mixed up some orders and I got a used header. He refunded half my purchase price. Ended up being $64 for an exhaust header that needs to be cleaned up a little before paint. I can live with that.
Sounds like the guy has a warehouse of old 124 parts and decided to get rid of everything. If you have the patience it may be a good source for hard to find items.

I just got an email that said my package was marked return to sender. I am not sure why that would have happened, since I get mail here all the time, but you never know. At least I have heard something back. With any luck I'll see my little parts next week.

Dave is kinda of an idiocentric guy. The biggest problem I ever had in dealing with him was getting in contact (ie over the phone or through email). It was neat to visit his shop because of the variety of cars there.

If I remember right he has a massive warehouse of parts that he tried selling a few years ago, looks like he is dumping them on ebay now.

I have not had a lot of dealings with dave, I think it's been 2 transactions over about the past 6 months, but I have found him to be BRILLIANT to deal with.
I am situated about 12,000 miles away in the South Pacific but have found the parcels have been dispatched quickley, by airmail and items are on the button and well packed. Would reccommend him to others !

I ordered some dash wood from the guy a few months ago, it took him a long time to send the parts. The last time I called him about my order, he apoligized for the delay and mentioned he had cancer. There might be some truth to his story.
