Ft Lauderdale, anyone?

Maureen and I will be in Ft Lauderdale for a few days from Jan 7 - 10. Anyone want to meet up for a drink to talk Fiats?

I hear that it's warm down there. Actually, we're going to be in Cuba for a week to spend time with family that are traveling to attend the promotion ceremony for my brother (Navy Captain) at Guantanamo. He says the SCUBA is fantastic (no tourists), so I'll probably be under water most of the time there. We're lingering in Ft Lauderdale for a few days when we get back into the US, and will check out the sights.

Gunsmith,
I hadn't thought too much about shooting, and I think it's a fair bet that Maureen may not be interested. Our son-in-law would be there in an instant. Keep my cell phone handy if your schedule opens up.

Lot's o fun to be had at the range and many of our customers are female, definitely not just a guys sport anymore. I wish I could breakaway but it is a very busy time of year for us. There is more to do in the area besides just shooting sports, air boat rides, Eco tours, off road driving (Fiats not recommended) horseback riding, golf(bleghhh) etc. If it's a fear or dislike of guns thing we can get past all of that as well.(Nothing you see on TV is realistic or even close to accurate). Hopefully we can find some time to get together.

you guys only shoot on a range? How civilized. Here in So Cal we shoot from cars so we don't have to actually walk anywhere. And there is no shortage of targets on the freeways either

Mark.. sad but true, still had to laugh though
The druggies could use some range time.. I don't think they can hit squat unless they empty a clip or two.Really scary for joe public.
A few bystanders in Vancouver have lost their lives this way and/or injured for life.

Gunsmith,
Please send me your contact info. I'll be sure to give a call if we find time to stray that far from the Lauderdale area (we have a few activities lined up already, such as the ones you mentioned).

I went shooting with my daughter and her husband Brent in NC last year, and had a great time. Though Brent is a fairly avid gun hobbyist, and is quite knowledgeable and skiled, and I'm not a bad shot myself, it was my daughter Alison that did the best shooting that day. And she's such a tiny little thing that she could hardly pick up some of the pistols we were firing! She's got a steady, patient hand for it.

Girls as a rule shoot better than the boys when they first start. The only reason some of the guys start to get better is they are sick of getting beat by the girls and spend more time practicing. :x Oddly enough we have more girls that come with their dads than boys, about a 60-40 mix.

Alvon,I dont know if he will be back or not,but one of the truly good guys on this forum,Europa lives in Lauderdale.Maybe you could try to pm him.He went to India for the holidays.Dont let Jeff kid you, most of the shooting in Okeechobee takes place from moving p/u trucks  People who think Fla.is all beaches and palm trees get some serious culture shock when they head to Okee. That is where the real 'Florida Crackers' live.I have a lot of family in that area!
Jeff, congrats on having the range up and running. It looks like a great place.I am 'kin' to a lot of the Walpoles,Raulersons, and Chandlers out there.

Well Craig you must be multi lingual as well. You can probably speak both Ebonics and Hick! It is amazing how different this area can be with just an hours drive. It's nice to have both worlds so close together.

It is pretty amazing the difference a 1 hour drive can make. Most people that visit ,or even live in SoFla dont realize there is a totally different world that close to the coasts.Hope the range is doing well!
