htchevyii wrote:I missed most of this thread until now, I hope this forum doesn't become so Politically correct that you can't say anything. I'm not at all against mods that make a car cleaner or nicer, but some are most definitely in poor taste, (at least IMHO). I think that sometimes the manufactures have conrtraints, (cost, crash ratings, manufacturing, etc), that can compromise designs. Just don't pick on my car :)
I think I'm getting taken out of context here, by folks who aren't reading the entire thread! :?

My frustration was NOT at someone bashing mods. Hell, I don't care. I hate some mods too.

My frustration was quite specifically about some people who think that ONLY FIAT ENGINEERS OR DESIGNERS have any business designing or engineering. And that eventually morphed into "EVERYONE IS STUPID except for people who are engineers by trade".

Now, I know no harm was meant. I know some folks felt that their 4-6-8 years of education and experience was being compared to the guy who put that turbo on the Honda, sticking out of the hood, which was not my point.

I have nothing but respect for people who really can design, engineer & create. I have moments of lucidity that way, but usually I'm one of the "Stupid" people.

I'm just sayin' that design creativity and genius can come in any shape or form. Sometimes from a guy making loads of cash.... and sometimes from a guy in his garage.

So as not to stir it all up again; it's quite clear to me that everyone on this site must have above-par tastes.
And as I say, I understand the points of view taken by each post. And I'm probably playing at semantics when I argue it out the way I did.
So I'll blame 3 pages of this mind-numbing blather on me needing a distraction from what's onmy desk waiting for me all day! :P
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

my wife keeps telling me I have sub-par taste so you shouldn't lump me in with the above-par group

Awesome, I appreciate this thread. Here I am working Christmas Eve swing shift. This thread has been entertaining to say the least! Merry Christmas and looking forward to a Happy Fiat New Year. On my list of things to do Fiat wise is that new alternator so my wipers will work, Mark's exhaust manifold, and get my 69 AC Coupe engine back together!
