Not Fiat but I drove my Baby to get parts :)
Had to work on my car today. We had a break in the extremely cold weather. I had to change out my alternator in my 94 Plymouth mini van. Not Fiat related BUT I used my Spider to get parts for my minivan woohoo! Sort of a change I would say as I have driven my minivan many times to get parts for my Spider in the past hehe.

Boy, you must've had a real warm day. Both my Spiders have their tops down. I'll have to heat the garage just to put the top up so I can take them for a spin.

Similiar experience, I'm always going to the parts store with my dad in his 2000 Ford Windstar.

So, how'd the Spider do on the snow covered roads Al?
It's raining out here presently, but other than that we still have OK temps for using my Spider.

I didn't get any snow today, weather man said we would but maybe later tonight. I did drive it the other day on the snow and it would spin out pretty easily in first gear. Main problem was the wipers way too slow to keep windshield clear. I am saving for one of those alternator mods I seen here.
Ahh yes, Denise. I have to put the top up before the freeze or it will ruin that back plastic window. Did that to my first Spider way back in 78. Had a new top on it too, not too smart of a move on me. Let's see back in the 70's we called it "smooth move" (and costly).

Lat weekend in Houston I drove the spider (top and windows down) to a club event, in 38 degree weather. Not too bad, but I did have gloves and a hooded sweat shirt on (and the heat!). Of course, I know from my days in northern Wisconsin that you guys up north might not see that warm a temperature again until April! Coldest top-down drive I ever did was a February drive through Joshua Tree National Monument, in the high deserts of SoCal. Left the hotal at 23 degrees, and it was a couple of hours before the sun warmed it up to above freezing.
Lets herar some "iron butt" stories - coldest, wettest, toughest drives, etc.

Long long time ago, in a far away city, it snowed in the winter between rain storms (Vancouver)rlux4 wrote:So, how'd the Spider do on the snow covered roads Al?

I was 18-19 at the time and had a 70 spider. The thing was absolutely useless in the snow, rollerskates would have been better.
Dad had brought home a couple of round 3 inch steel cutouts from his fabricating shop, each weighed 70 pounds or so,put those in the trunk and radial snows on the rear, did'nt help much.
Now to qualify.. those that have lived on the wet coast remember it snows at -1(31 deg F) and when compacted, turns to an ice like substance. Later I found the only tire that gives me confidence in those conditions are studded tires all the way round.
Dry snow, like here in the interior, the car might be a bit better, but they still use salt and sand mix, or the liquid that is becomming popular. Cars parked.
