saddest day of the year
Re: saddest day of the year
Since my classic car insurance is 100 bucks for the year I just pay the bill in May and leave it be.

When you cancel registration, what does that mean? I know here in NC it is required to have liability, under and uninsured motorist coverage. If any of it lapses, I have to turn in my license plate. If I want to add insurance and tags back on the car, I don't pay any penalties or additional fees. If I don't turn the tags in, I get to pay a $50 fine and may get a knock on the door from the Sheriff who will come and take the tag.

I know what mark is talking about, I used to live there and the same thing goes for nevada residence. But here in MN its a whole new ball game. You dont need to insure anything, no laps of insurance fees, no dmv breating down your throat. Yes, you do need insurance to drive. but if you own 7 cars and only drive one or two, you only need to insure the two not the seven. You don't have to turn in your plates ever, when you sell a car, the plates go with the car, there is no refunds given by the dmv as in nevada, you keep custom plates though. Oh ya, No emission what so ever, swap any engine into any car, Its great, but its going to be damn cold soon. If my basement only had a garage door.

You're fixing the floor, right? I have a couple weak spots in mine. Great winter project.azygoustoyou wrote:Welcome to my world Mike. I haven't driven here since I bought her. And if I knew there was hardly a floor in it . I wouldn't have driven her then. On the bright side. Wait! There is no bright side.
I keep insurance on the antiques and the motorcycle, all winter long. Last year I got the bike out at the end of February, just rode it last night. The cars get driven till the first salt hits the road.

Heck,
Mine hasn't been insured since the late 90s. That should make you feel a little better.

Took mine for a short spin on Sunday evening. A bit chilly. No heat I intend to take both cars on short drives this winter (Weather permitting, which means no snow or ice) just to keep everything lubed.
Mike, Very sorry to hear that your stored away for the winter. Gives you something to look foward to this spring. George

actually.... last night began a new project; tear down for a new paint job. rear end lights have been removed and so has the trunk latch and tumbler. so, since we are no longer street legal, i guess my mourning for drive time is over for a while.
in a few months, we will be looking at a brand new paint job, new color and zero rust bubbles. that should make us berry berry happy.

You're going to change the color Mike? You wouldn't be going to RED perhaps?

Didn't you see the mythbusters where they put all the divits in the Taurus? It's like a golf ball, BETTER MPG! I don't really know if it changed anything on the Jeep, but it did work on Mythbusters!
