That looks like the special color Fiat used only one year. It was on 1000 Anniversary Edition Spiders that were a limited production of cars made in 1981. It's called Champagne. I don't know what the paint code number is, but it should be easy to look it up. Maybe the new guy who showed up for the Turkey Trot (getting old, I can't remember his name, Dave maybe?) in a recently aqcuired 81 Anniversary will read this and chime in with the code number off of his car.

Ron,

The Champagne color code is 238, that's the color my son's car is....

Thanks! Wasn't expecting that to be an original color. I'd like to know what you guys think of my color idea, if it would work nice or not. I'm not exactly sure how it would work on the back end, if i'd bring the (pear white) on the sides around the back or not or just have the white only where you see it with the rocker panels the champagne color. Well now I'm confused. That chart shows it was a color used 75-80. 81 isn't even included. Everything I've read about the anniversary edition models said the color was only used on that edition. I wish I had Darsie's phone number, she'd solve my dilemma.

The Champagne color used in 1981 for the anniversary edition is #512.

I don't need Darsie's number, I could have just called Pope. Duh!
Thank you sir. I'm a little less confused now.
About your question Nitro. I was hoping you wouldn't ask, but seeing as you did...
I'm not a big fan of totally different colored top and bottom paint schemes. I've seen some where the top and bottom were the same color scheme, just different shades that I thought looked OK though. But that's just my opinion. According to my kids, my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think the first pic looks much better than the 2nd. I'm not a big fan of two-tone paint jobs on Spiders. Some cars yes, Spiders generally, no

Two tone is hard to work on a Spider since there's no clear place to break the colors and keep the nice lines the car has. Your idea does respect the lines of the car and it's not bad but I think I prefer the solid color. Maybe some sort of stripe to break the colors might help. One place you could work your magic with two tone colors is the interior. I have seen some awesome interiors for our cars that really make them unique.

What If I ran a strip of chrome down the bodyline where the two colors meet? I want the paintjob to make it stand out among the other spiders on the road, not blend in with a common color.. Any of you guys have a good idea for pain color to go along with Tan seats/top?

I like the idea of two-tone, particularly two shades of the same tone or two tones of the same color. (I have no idea what I'm talking about, but look at a painter's color wheel). I would follow the line of the pinstripe that is typical on many later spiders, and I suspect the darker shade should be on the bottom half. My car has a ruined top half and when I posted my first photos and asked for paint color advice, someone hadthe idea of making it a lighter shade or even silver on top when I repaint.

I do appreciate your desire to have the car look "different". Go for it!

It makes a big difference to have the darker color on the bottom. Maybe champagne/brown with tan interior?
