ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO MY BROTHER AND I WENT TO HELP A OLDER FRIEND OF HIS DO
SOME THINGS IN HIS GARAGE. THE OLDER GENTLEMAN ASKED MY BROTHER IF WE WANTED
TO TAKE A LOOK AT HIS WIFES CAR COVERED IN THE CORNER. UNDER THE COVER SAT A AS
NEW FIAT SPIDER THE MAN BOUGHT FOR HIS WIFE FOR HER BIRTHDAY IN 1981.HE HAD TOLD
US HIS WIFE LOVED THE FIAT BUT NEVER DROVE IT.AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD ABOUT 3000,
MILES ON THE CLOCK. HE MADE SURE TO ORDER A AUTOMATIC,POWER WINDOW AIR/COND
CAR.
TEN YEARS LATER , SOME ONE I KNOW TOLD ME ABOUT A FIAT FOR SALE . THE CAR WAS IN
A GARAGE A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY OFFICE. I MET THIS WOMEN WHO OWNED THE CAR AND
KNEW I WAS GOING TO LIKE THE CAR.
WE GOT INTO THE GARAGE UNCOVERD THE CAR AND SHE SAID GET IN I NEED TO RUN
TO THE BANK.AS I SAT IN THE CAR AND WAITED FOR HER ,I OPENED THE GLOVE BOX AND LOOKED
AT THE PAPERWORK. ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER,BILL OF SALE,ODOMETER STATEMENT ETC....
TO MY SURPRISE THE CAR BELONGED TO THE OLDER GENTLEMANS WIFE I SAW TEN YEARS AGO.
THE FIAT HAD NOW 7000 MILES AND A LITTLE MORE DUST THAN BEFORE. AND I NEEDED TO BUY IT.
I NOW OWN THE CAR 7000 MILES AND NEED SOME ADVICE.................

Hi Ken,
Found your post. Welcome to the site. Looking foward to seeing some pic's of your found treasure. You will find that this site is chock full of friendly helpful people. Ask a question and someone here is sure to have an answer. You of course realize now you will have to buy another Fiat to keep your new Fiat company. My daughter has already asked me to make you an offer on your Fiat (No drivers license yet). I told her when she's 27 she can ask again.
When you replace the basics you will have to drive over here to NJ and show it off. Check the links for vendors. Your bound to have a great time with your new toy. Enjoy and good luck at the car show. George

My advice is to keep it as original as possible. Do not change or replace anything unless absolutely necessary. Oh yea, drive it and enjoy it (but not too much as the low mileage makes it unique and valuable).

my advice is to take all advice with a grain of salt and a pinch of logic. these cars are simple mechanical object that pre-date the overly controlling CPU powered vehicles we "enjoy" today. meaning... if something goes wrong, it is simple and logical to rectify.

additionally, i'd decide for myself if a modification is desired, or needed. don't listen to others. if you want modifications... go for it! if you want originality... keep it! but, don't let the opinions of others sway you one way or the other.

Just take out the original speedo with the 7K on it and put in an old one. Replace when necessary.
