the loop is too low, needs to be exactly between where it is and the head rest. otherwise the shoulder belt is not going to ride on top of my shoulder, it is gonna come around the side of my arm or on the "corner" of my shoulder... that will not be comfortable.

that, and $.02 is my opinion

nick, the opening is on the wrong side, the belt will fall out of the bracket every time i make a body adjustment.

super concept, move the opening to the other side so that the belt cannot fall or be easily pushed out of the bracket.

I had it on the other side but it would slip out as well... it needs to be in the center and I will make that adjustment soon, the seatbelt designed would place it similar to the original location, it would ride on the top of the seats in the exact location, another deisgn I'm working on would make a billet aluminum model of the plastic model and be placed in the exact location as the original, only more durable and up to date in looks...

interesting. i have been very frustrated with my plastic OEM guides for quite some time. can not figure out why the belt comes out... reinserting the belt to the guide is a pain, and so is not having the belt in the guide.

put it in, it comes out.
leave it out, and struggle to find the belt.

any one have a clue why the belt seems to always pop out of the existing plastic guides?

Guys/Gals... here is another pic of a billet aluminum exact replacement for the plastic seatbelt guides. These would be anodized in many colors and chromed as well.

Radio pilot,
This other company is selling the seat belt guides that hook to the head rests for our cars. I think it's possible to come up with something and still connect to the headrest. One issue with the plastic clips is that you can't find the holes to put the clip on.
With regards to my design. Placement is no problem. Just as yours, we just make them shorter. You have some good ideas. I tried my design with access with the belt. It was easy on/off. There is nothing to catch or bind the belt. I do know one thing. The belt won't come out unless it is removed.

Thanks... with respect to the hole finding, I used a very fine sewing needle to find the first hole once found I placed the bracket in place, marked that hole and the next one and had no problem installing my plastic guides... the needle left no visible trace of tiny holes and the bracket covered up the holes.

I like the original billet bracket over any other bracket/seat belt guides... if it were me this is the route I'd take... if others are fully interested I would need to know to send this model to a prototype shop and have several made to post here... I think you should be able to sell your shaped rod idea as well. :D

ack... Craig... what fun is there in that? though, you do have a point. a three point belt in a Fiat Spider is the perception of safety. a four point belt in a Fiat Spider with a roll bar is the semblence of safety. Staying at home in the driveway is the only real safe option, but that has zero fun attached.

these guys have a great idea brewing. i suggest they get their heads together and build a composite design, go to finance and get a budget and create a partnership company that fills a need in our community.

if it is half as successful as Mark's light kit and my shifter... everyone will benefit.

Here's my short version that I would prefer over my designs. It would keep the belt in the same position as the original did. I have a Ford F-150 that has the belt in the same approximate position. Here's pic's.
Craig, if you would like to back out of your order. I have no problem with it.
Radiopilot, Good luck with your design. Looking forward to the end result. :P

I'm not interested in day to day sales... if the prototype generates sales I would prefer someone like Mark (interested?) sell these items on his website and he can make his cut on the sale... The design of course would be mine, and could be licensed to some shop to mass produce them but really how many would order them, you need a two piece set so I guess it could be a fairly robust production run say 100 pieces?

I think both designs have their merit, some want the original look and some prefer the custom modified look, to each his own... what we're really after is of course longevity and a working product. :D
