chrome bumpers

Post by bs209494 »

Hi all, I've just joined the forum and this is my first post. Importantly, I've just bought my first Fiat pider 124. It's a blue 1977 CS1 in truly superb conditions. Perhaps the only detail I'm not that keen on are the bumpers. Wanted to ask the experts wheter the early chrome bumpers could be fitted on this model at all. I'm sure I'm not the first one to have asked this question. Any input is really welcome. Cheers. Gianpaolo

We would really like to see your "find" (see new members)
I believe they can be fitted with a bit of fiddling about with the mounting brackets. Some members have drilled a hole in the bumper shocks and pushed the bumper in closer to the body and bolted to stabilize. Looses the shock ability but sure looks smart and still offers some protection from the parking lot. I'm finding a set of older bumpers in decent shape a bit of a chore, but up here there are not that many fiats about in the first place.(trying to avoid shipping)

There are several vendors that sell the early bumper. They also sell the mounting kit so they can be fitted to later models.
Mr. fiat sells them also Harrington sells them. I also found another vendor in the UK that sells them for 770 USD and will fedex them to you so you don't eat the custom fees. Most vendors in the US a set will cost you about 1100.

Hi, many thanks for the info you have provided me. I'm a bit puzzled by the indicators, which currently are positioned on the bumpers. What solutions have you found when moving to chrome bumpers? Cheers.
